What to consider before booking
Low-temperature heating means designing the system to provide the required room heat with cooler water. It can support efficient operation of a heat pump or condensing boiler, but the building still needs the same heat to maintain its chosen temperature.
Heat loss comes before a target temperature
There is no single flow temperature that suits every home. The room demand and available emitter output must be considered together. Better insulation may reduce the demand, while a larger radiator may deliver the required heat at a lower temperature.
Radiators and pipework need to work together
Increasing emitter output is useful only if water can circulate as required. Pipe sizes, valves, pumps and zoning need assessment. A complete redesign is not always necessary, but isolated upgrades should fit the intended whole-system operation.
Controls and heating patterns
A lower-temperature system may need longer operating periods and carefully adjusted controls. Large setbacks and short heating bursts can work against the design. The correct strategy depends on the property, equipment and occupancy, so the handover should explain how to use it.
Heating water is different from stored hot water
Space-heating settings and stored domestic hot-water requirements are separate considerations. Do not lower a cylinder’s temperature simply because the radiator circuit is being adjusted. Ask the engineer to explain the correct settings for the complete system.
Prices and what to confirm
The price depends on your equipment, access and the work required. Ask Aura to confirm the charge and what it covers before booking.
| Price component | What to ask |
|---|---|
| Survey and specification | Agree the assessment and design deliverables before equipment is chosen. |
| Equipment and installation | Compare model, quantities, pipework, controls and access requirements. |
| Completion | Confirm commissioning, documentation, disposal and any making good. |

Send these details with your enquiry
- Current heat source and controller
- Room comfort problems and radiator dimensions
- Insulation improvements already completed or planned
- Whether hot water is stored in a cylinder
Include your postcode and a callback number. Aura can then confirm whether a repair appointment, maintenance visit or installation survey is the right next step.
Enquire about low-temperature heating designYour questions answered
Can I use low-temperature heating with a gas boiler?
A suitable condensing boiler and system may benefit, but controls, radiator output and hot-water arrangements must be considered.
Do all radiators need replacing?
No. Check each room’s demand against emitter output at the proposed temperatures before deciding which changes are needed.
Is low-temperature heating the same as underfloor heating?
No. Underfloor heating is one emitter option. Appropriately sized radiators can also be used in a lower-temperature design.
Which areas does Aura cover?
Aura is based in Uddingston and considers low-temperature heating design across Glasgow and Lanarkshire, with suitable installations across Central Scotland. Confirm your postcode, equipment support and appointment availability directly.
